Tour Guiding

I am a Failte Ireland approved cultural tour guide for the Cork/Kerry/Waterford region of Ireland and regularly act a s tour guide for tour operators in the Cork area.

Over the years, both locally and nationally, I have lectured on all aspects of Ireland’s natural heritage to audiences ranging from the national conference of BirdWatch Ireland (Irish equivalent of the American Audubon Society) to local school and community groups.

I have extensive experience leading group outings and conducting teacher-training courses/night classes.

I have visited numerous European and Scandinavian countries, Iceland, USA (New York and California), Southern Africa, Cape Verde Islands, Argentina and Antarctica.

Between 13th December 2007 and the 28th January 2008 I was employed by Norwegian Cruise Lines as Expedition Ornithologist catering to 2,500 passengers in total on board the MS Marco Polo for their Antarctic Season. I worked as part of a team giving lectures and providing interpretation on the birds and other wildlife seen on the cruises in the southern ocean and around the Antarctic Peninsula. During the season I kept a daily blog which received a lot of attention from schools and individuals.

Between 4th and 22nd January 2009 I was an ornithology lecturer and guide for Zegrahm Expeditions on their Antarctic cruise.

In 2010 I was lecturing and guiding for Zegrahm Expeditions in the Antarctic, Ireland and Britain and in the Baltic. In 2011 I did Svalbard/Arctic and Circumnavigation of Ireland and in 2012 I will be doing Antarctic, Britain and Ireland and Norwegian Fjords and Scotland.
